2009 has not been kind to most retailers and SOHO has not been missed. We hear several retail shops will probably close after the first of the year. Several smaller chain companies have been watching for opportunities for awhile. That means some of the local character of SOHO will continuing to erode away.
Hyde Park Village has lots more vacancies than they would like. Last year they forced several tenants out and have not made much progress in replacing them. Cinebistro had been a hope to help revive business for many of the village merchants, but that hope seems to be fading away in a still weak economy.
